The drivers of Akwamufia are not able to drive from Atimpoku and its surroundings to the mentioned town due to collapsed of the road in to the Volta River just after the Adomi bridge heading to Akwamufia. Akwamufia is located in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern region.
People of Akwamufia are not able to go on their normal duties in most part of Asuogyaman district because none of the cars are able to access the road, because of the serious damage which if any vehicle tempt could fall into the Volta Lake. The latest destruction of the road is beyond repairs.
The road needs immediate maintenance by experienced contractors for quality works to prevent the remaining part of the road from total collapse into the Volta Lake.
The farmers in the communities of Akwamufia’s farm produce like banana and other perishable goods will remain in their various farms and villages to rot because their main form of transportation is by the road leading from the town to Atimpoku,Juapong and its surrounding communities.
Drivers and car owners of the area have no option than to pack their cars in Atimpoku and walk far distance to their various destinations, due to this unfortunate incidence they are calling for the government to come to their aid for immediate solution. The residence of the area said the government should not wait after the election before the maintenance.
